The week of May 6th Rich and I flew to Las Vegas for the National Hardware Show with the intent to look for new tools and new consulting opportunities. The show which is held at the Las Vegas Convention Center is one of C Larboard must stops every year.
According to their website the National Hardware Show celebrates a rich history spanning over 70 years of serving the home improvement marketplace. From its early beginnings in New York during the post-World War II housing boom and eventual move to Chicago in the 1970s, to today’s current location in Las Vegas, the National Hardware Show continually evolves through the industry’s involvement, commitment and passion to improving America’s quality of life through their homes. Today, the National Hardware Show is the place for global manufacturers, associations, organizations and the media to unveil their new products, ideas and insight to a broad spectrum of home improvement resellers.
The hardware is always an exciting event since many of our existing manufacturing partners attend as well as new potential partners. It is a place for us to reconnect with people we already know as well as meet new potential supply partners. Also, since Rich has been in the industry for a long time it allows him to re-connect with longtime friends and past colleagues.
At this year’s event they also featured a new aspect called Tiny Living @NHS. This was a convention within a convention where the Hardware Show featured the Small Build & Construction Technology Conference, designed specifically for professionals in the small living, modular and manufactured housing industries. We attended a few of the seminars so we could stay on top of this new aspect of the industry and learned a lot about the mindset of those living this lifestyle. As you know we have been attending RV events so we thought this was a good tie-in for us.
Another aspect of the hardware show is the Inventors Spotlight. The Inventors Spotlight features products not yet on the market; giving us an inside look at what may be the next big product or service to revolutionize the home improvement industry. Inventors have the opportunity to meet with buyers and potential investors to get feedback on their products. We love meeting these inventors to see their new ideas and also see if we can help them! As you may or may not know as part of our C Larboard business we offer consulting in every aspect of product development, manufacturing, sourcing and supply chain execution. So meeting new inventors is so rewarding since many of them need help getting their product to market.
Here are some of the interesting inventions we saw and maybe you will see us work with them in the future:
We love searching the US and the globe for new ideas and opportunities for C Larboard! If there is a trade show you think we should attend to look for new products or if you know an inventor that could use our assistance getting their product to market let us know if the comments below!
