Navigating Roatan

So Why Roatan?

Rich and I just returned from our 25th Anniversary trip to Roatan and in addition to relaxing on the beach we were able to bring along a few items from our C Larboard gift shop that make great travel companions.

We discovered Roatan (an island off the coast of Honduras) on a cruise earlier this year. We were on the island for just one day and decided to explore it with an excursion to what was described as their "famous, beautiful beach" – West Bay. We spent the afternoon in West Bay, eating, relaxing and enjoying the beautiful blue water. We had a wonderful day and knew we had to return!

Rich and I spend so much of our time travelling for our business, so we knew we wanted a relaxing 25th anniversary trip. We chose that same beach in West Bay Roatan and never looked back. We stayed in a fabulous bungalow right on the beach and enjoyed snorkeling, walking the beach, eating amazing fresh seafood and exploring the island.

Tools to Navigate Roatan

Rich and I normally travel light (we very rarely check any bags) but the one item we did bring was our Defiance Tools On-The-Go Insulated Coffee Press! No matter where you go, you can never be sure what type of coffee pot (if any) may be in the room. We are so glad we brought it! We found some amazing Honduran coffee and every day were able to have fresh hot coffee in the room – while enjoying our amazing ocean view.

We threw in the Emergency Phone Charger because we had heard that the power could go out for short periods of time on the island. Luckily, we didn’t need it.

Rich always has the Skull Design EDC Multi-Tool that is 8 tools in 1 with him since it is on his key chain. In a true Rich MacGyver moment, he fixed a small issue with the shower rather than calling the manager. Somehow, we always seem to use this EDC for something that comes up!

Rich and I were sitting at a restaurant and a small coconut fell directly into my glass – we figured it had to be good luck!

We had to do a little work while we were there and visited the local Ace Hardware Store.

Every morning we saw the cutest sand crabs exploring the beach before the crowds arrived.
